How often should solar panels be cleaned in Lawford?

Fields, trees and the estuary
Homes on the more open, higher parts of the village catch dust blown off neighbouring fields when they’re ploughed or harvested. Lower down, closer to the trees and the Stour, the trouble is pollen, sticky sap and leaf debris, plus droppings from the birds that feed along the estuary. Sap in particular dries hard and doesn’t wash off in the rain.
Some of the newer homes in the village were built with panels already fitted, while older properties have had them added over the years. Retrofitted arrays on cottages and semis sometimes sit close to chimneys, dormers or overhanging branches, so parts of them are shaded for much of the day. A gentle clean with pure water
Pure water has had all its minerals removed, so it picks up dirt readily and dries without marks. We don’t use any detergents, and nothing is left on the glass to attract more dirt. Stubborn spots of sap and droppings are soaked and loosened before rinsing, which is far kinder to the panels than scrubbing at them.
Panels on barns, garages and outbuildings
Out in the countryside around Lawford, solar panels aren’t always on the house. Some homes have them on a garage, a barn or a garden building, where there’s more roof space and less shade. Those roofs are often closer to fields, trees and livestock, so they can get dirtier than panels on the house.

For systems up to 16 panels, we charge £8 per panel. Between 17 and 25 panels, the rate is £7 per panel, so 18 panels costs £126. Larger arrays, including bigger set-ups on rural properties, are quoted individually. Pay by card or direct debit.

Rain moves loose dust about but leaves a film behind as it dries, and it won’t shift sap, lichen or droppings. A proper clean removes all of them.
