The gutter repairs we do

Leaking joints and resealing

Most gutter leaks come from a joint, where two lengths meet or where a corner or outlet joins the run. Over the years the seals harden and shrink, and water drips through every time it rains, often staining the wall below. We clean the joint and reseal it, then check it holds.

Replacing brackets and realigning sagging gutters

Gutters are held up by brackets screwed to the fascia. When one snaps or works loose, often after the gutter has been full of wet leaves, the run sags, water pools in the dip and the joints either side start to leak. We fit new brackets and reset the gutter so water runs to the outlet.

Replacing sections of guttering

A length that’s cracked, split, crushed or bent doesn’t always mean a whole new gutter. Where the rest of the system is sound, we replace the damaged section and join it into the existing run.

Downpipe repairs and unblocking

A blocked downpipe makes the gutter above overflow, and a pipe that has come apart or cracked sends water down the wall. We clear blockages, refit pipes and clips, and replace damaged lengths.

Full gutter replacement

When a gutter keeps failing at joint after joint, or has been patched so often that nothing quite lines up, replacing the system can make more sense than another repair. We’ll tell you honestly which we think is the better option.

Fitting gutter guards

Guards fitted along the gutter help keep leaves, moss and debris out, so outlets block less often. They’re most useful on homes under or near trees.

Signs your gutters need repairing

  • Water dripping from the same spot on the gutter every time it rains
  • A gutter that dips in the middle or has pulled away from the fascia
  • Damp patches, green streaks or stains on the wall below a corner or joint
  • Water pouring over the front of the gutter in heavy rain
  • A downpipe that has come apart, cracked or stays dry in a storm

How quoting works

Every gutter repair is quoted individually; there’s no price list. The quickest way is to email a close-up photo of the problem and a wider one of the house, with your address, to info@dbprofessionalservices.co.uk. If the problem is hard to photograph, call us and we’ll arrange a visit to look at it. Gutter repairs aren’t in our online quote builder for this reason.

Repair or replace?

If one joint or one length has failed, a repair is usually all you need. If the gutter is failing in several places, has been patched with mismatched parts, or the brackets are giving way along the whole run, we’ll explain what a full replacement would involve so you can decide.

Gutter cleaning and repairs together

Plenty of leaks and overflows start with a blocked gutter or outlet. If your gutters need clearing too, see our gutter, fascia and soffit cleaning, priced by house size. Each town page below also links to gutter cleaning in that area.

Gutter repair questions

How much does a gutter repair cost?

Every repair is quoted individually, because the problem, the height of the gutter and the access all vary. Send photos or arrange a visit and we’ll give you a price before any work is booked.

Can you quote from photos?

Usually. Email a close-up of the problem and a wider photo of the house to info@dbprofessionalservices.co.uk. If photos can’t show it, we’ll arrange to come and look.

Do you fit gutter guards?

Yes. Guards help stop leaves and moss blocking gutters and outlets, which is useful under trees. We can fit them on their own or alongside a repair.

Is a sagging gutter worth repairing?

Usually, yes. Most sagging is caused by broken or missing brackets, and new brackets with the gutter realigned to the right fall normally sort it.

Do you clean gutters as well as repairing them?

Yes. Gutter cleaning is priced by house size, and it pairs well with a repair because many leaks start with a blocked gutter or outlet.
